Botball epitomizes a project-based and hands-on approach to learning through its focus on robotics. After a training period, teams will have several months to fully realize their robotic creations and compete to test their robots’ abilities. This competition will allow students to further their social, critical thinking, writing, scientific, and mathematical skills.
RoboRAVE aims to make robotics accessible to ANY kid, ANYWHERE. Funded by Intel, students work as teams to learn about robotics; programming for robot challenges; spend the whole day at the event for 1st hand knowledge; and develop a plan to implement robotics back home. Fun is the 1st Priority.
Future City, a STEAM project, is a consortium of professional and technical societies and major U.S in its 25-year history. Future City asks students to imagine, design, and build cities of the future. More than 40,000 students typically participate worldwide in the competitions.
The International Space Settlement Design Competition (ISSDC) grew out of a summer project of Boy Scouts of America 33 years ago. It is supported by Boeing and NASA. The competition targets high school students and recreates the experience of working on an aerospace company's proposal team. The teams are asked to envision space colonies in accordance to an RFP (Request for Proposal).
The International Linguistics Olympiad is a competition for teenagers to solve complex linguistic problems applied to a multitude of different world languages. These problems cover a range of different linguistic topics, including ancient writing systems, the sounds of African languages, uncommon word orders, and many more. Students interested in linguistics, math, and computer science will benefit from the logical and formal reasoning required to solve the linguistic problems.
The International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) is a major international academical competition held annually and the only international academical competition that covers physics, chemistry and biology at the same time. Top students from each country are selected to the competition and each get a chance to compete with their counterparts from across the globe.
The iGEM competition is an annual, world wide, synthetic biology event aimed at undergraduate university students, as well as high school and graduate students. Student teams are given a kit of biological parts and work to build and test biological systems in living cells, ranging from bacteria to mammalian cells. iGEM teams work inside and outside the lab, creating sophisticated projects that strive to create a positive contribution to their communities and the world.
Duke Math Meet (DMM) is a regional mathematics competition for high school students held at Duke University every year. The contest is organized by the members of the Duke University Mathematics Union (DUMU), and is sponsored by the mathematics department. The DMM lasts for one day from morning to afternoon, during which the students have fun solving challenging mathematics problems, while making many new friends with contestants from other schools and states.
International Teenagers' Short Film Competition is founded by ITCCC and NYFA in 2013.
